When you have to write a procedure or a report, do you just start writing?
Do you have any sort of plan?
What are you trying to say in each section?
Without understanding the structure of a good procedure and the stages of the process, I can guarantee that your procedure will NOT be user-friendly!
It will probably suck!
Structure is vital to ensure that your procedure is logical and predicable, and that it is written as you execute the process.
Once your structure - think section headings - is mapped, then it makes it much easier to plan what you are going to say in each section. Next time you sit down to write a procedure, think about structure!
Need to know more about writing a good procedure, then watch out for my new course 'Writing User-Friendly Procedures' coming soon! You can join up for our newsletter at https://lnkd.in/gjE-Tfc8 on the Contact Us page.
