What a recognition and reward program actually look like

April 03, 20231 min read

Well, it needs to be genuine, and not a tick in the box to say that the company has such a program, when in reality, it does nothing to help personnel engagement.

So I'm not talking about one of 'those' systems. A formal recognition and reward program needs to: 1. Reflect the company values 2. Have a feedback loop into the continuous improvement process 3.

Reward or recognise contributions that are 'above expectations' And rewards and recognition programs should not recognise the same individuals all the time, because this often results in disengagement from everyone else. So... what should this system look like?

🎯 Criteria for who, when, where 'applications' can be submitted.

🎯 Criteria on who and how awards the recognition/reward - a committee or group of leadership is much better than a single person.

🎯 Very clear guidelines on what can be given as a reward or what is included as recognition.

🎯 Leadership review of the program to make sure that it results in personnel engagement, not disengagement! Does this sound like an SOP - yeah, it probably needs to be (just not a GMP one).

What does your company do - I'd love to hear about it!
