Involving subject matter experts (SMEs) when crafting your documents is not just advisable, but ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ข๐˜ญ!

SMEs bring a wealth of specialized knowledge and expertise in the technical aspects or process.

While you may excel in writing and document organization, SMEs provide the crucial technical insights to ensure accuracy with the actual processes you're trying to document.

This collaboration can either start with:

1๏ธโƒฃ you sharing your initial drafts with SMEs for review and validation, or

2๏ธโƒฃ you initiating a conversation with them to gain an understanding of the subject matter before you begin drafting. Failing to engage with SMEs when documenting a process or technical area is just dumb!

No one person knows everything about a topic, and you as the writer (even if you are a technical SME too) will have blind spots. Engaging with SMEs improves accuracy, relevance, and the practicality of your documents, ensuring they effectively serve their intended purpose within your organization.
